This Data Quality Analyst position will be responsible for analyzing the quality of data submitted to and processed by the National Cancer Database (NCDB). They will provide quantitative quality assurance of existing data and new submissions, and provide feedback to NCDB participating cancer programs and the NCDB staff team. This position will also design and implement an audit process to validate data quality and identify data submission issues. The position requires extensive experience in SQL and in a statistical package - preferably SAS.

This exempt position will report to the NCDB Manager, Information and Data Standards in the Division of Research & Optimal Patient Care.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyze quality of data submitted to NCDB. Provide insight into high and low quality data variables to NCDB staff team. Provide feedback on assessment of participating cancer program data collection, submission, validation and propose changes to add clarity to data definitions.

• Develop and maintain the data dictionary for all items defined in the STORE manual used in the NCDB and IQVIA data submission and processing infrastructure.

• Analyze data items currently being used or proposed for use to support NCDB quality measures, and advise on changes to quality measures.

• Design and implement an audit process to validate data quality and identify data submission issues.

• Support general NCDB data analysis needs across the Cancer Programs, including accreditation and AJCC.

• Other duties as assigned.

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required.

• Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in a similar role in the healthcare field.

• Extensive experience in SQL and a statistical package, preferably SAS.

• Certified Tumor Registrar or Registered Health Information Technologist, or Registered Health Information Administration desired.

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization.

• Capable of providing excellent customer service.

• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Must be able to multi-task.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel).

• Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a member of a team.

• Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

• Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.

• Experience in medical associations, hospitals, or physicians’ offices desired.

Physical/Work Environment: Fast paced with significant people interaction. No lifting over 20 pounds, minimal reaching bending and stooping. Performs work in a normal office environment with long hours in front of the computer.

Other Necessary Requirements: Minimal travel for activities such as out of town meetings is required.
