Description:

This position exists to manage the Chicago Global Gateway terminal operations which include container yard operations, gate operations, maintenance and repair services and third party client business. The manager will be required to lead a management team which consists of the M&R Manager, terminal operations superintendents and gate operations superintendents. Expectations are to deliver a consistent level of service by identifying strategic operational requirements that support the terminals business plan and company objectives.

Accountabilities:

Key Result Areas

Cost containment/management periodic variance reporting and meeting P&L goals.

*
Development of third party business opportunities and revenue streams

*
Meeting performance Goals and Vendor performance and accountability KPI s

Key Accountabilities/Duties

*
Manage all facets of the terminals operations. Critical operating elements will be gate transaction automation, capacity measurement and utilization, equipment availability, maintenance & repair and client services.

*
Prepare and manage operations budget to include cost/service targets measured by identified Key Performance Indicators. Variance reporting for each period of actual to budget. Establish KPI s for all areas of the terminals operation. Monitor profitability of client business.

*
Day to day management of a union environment including negotiating and maintaining contracts with key vendors and local teamsters bargaining units.

*
In conjunction with VP, Labor Relations, negotiate future Collective Bargaining Agreements with the terminals Teamster workforce.

*
Develop and maintain sound business relationships with key labor leaders to accomplish performance goals.

*
Negotiations of client service contracts and development of rates for services offered. Provide competitive intelligence regarding client options and service advantages to customer base.

*
Develop and maintain sound business relationships with key vendors and to accomplish performance goals

*
Serve as subject matter expert for Tideworks suite of software applications

Qualifications:

Required Education

*
BA or BS degree preferred

Experience

* 8-10 years of industry experience
*
Exposure to a variety of operating segments i.e.: CY and rail terminal operations.

*
At least 5 years of staff management required

*
At least 2 years of experience successfully managing employees in a union environment.
