Job Description and Overview:

The Director is viewed as having significant expertise in at least one complexfunctional/specialty area and broad knowledge/skills in others. He or she is viewed as a subject matter expert in one or more Gartner service offerings (e.g., IT strategic planning, enterprise architecture planning, sourcing,enterprise solutions, information security, disaster recovery and businesscontinuity planning). The director level position is expected to have advanced engagement delivery and project management skills to pursue and project manage large and complex consulting engagements.

Key Engagement Management and Delivery Responsibilities:

* Lead complex projects with minimal oversight.
* Mentor others in key technology areas.
* Coach and train team members in organizational, business, behavioral, and technical skills.
* Good judgment on when and how to revise scope of work (work plans, deliverables and team resources) based on complex client situations.
* Ensure effective and creative idea generation amongst the project team.
* Gain team members' input to and sets the project team's goals.
* Plan and facilitate significant client meetings.
* Drive the clients thinking in many cases.
* Significant contact with key client executives and management (business and/or technical).

Business Development Responsibilities:

* Lead sales efforts from a thought leadership/subject matter expertise perspective ina given offering.
* Contribute to account plan development.
* Support the management of designated client accounts.
* Proactively follow up on all assigned leads
* Develop compelling, client-centric proposals.
* Proactively seek out ways to collaborate with leaders from all parts of Gartner to identify target markets and to develop pursuit strategies.
* Ability to support sales partners in the successful close and negotiation of complex deals.
* Develop opportunity plans and may present to deal review board.

Delivery Responsibilities:

* Advise clients in the areas of Application Design, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), application security frameworks and Information Architecture
* Perform application architecture, code & QA assessments of n-tier architecture applications to determine extensibility, scalability, maintainability and security capabilities to support business requirements.
* Provide advice in the transitioning from legacy to multi-tier application architectures based on latest technologies in .Net and Java.
* Assist clients in the developmentof Application Consolidation strategies.
* Assess and assist clients in defining Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture readiness, strategy andmethodology to optimize the software development, maintenance, reuse and support.
* Perform Systems Development Life Cycle Assessment and provide improvement recommendations in support of internal and outsourced development model.
* Provide advice on optimizing current application architectures including .NET/Java technology architecturalstyles, tools, software life cycle impacts, security and best practices.
* Work closely with development and architecture teams to understand infrastructure capacity and environment requirements for new developments.
* Work with clients in developing technology/product strategies and plans.
* Depending on project size,supervise other personnel, assign work, establish and maintain schedules, control project expenses and integrate individual work into a coherent and quality deliverable.
* Identify sales opportunities and leads, which may come from meetings, clients, other consultants, sales force, vendors and others.
* Assist in writing and presenting proposals to prospective clients.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Consulting project management-experience with either business/mission design and/or large IT systems development. Specific experience in Gartner's core service offeringssuch as IT architecture, IT strategic planning, IT investment management, IT assessment is a strong plus.

* A general knowledge of a broad range of technologies.
* Excellent understanding of IT and its business implications.
* At least 5 years of "hands on" management consulting experience inconducting strategy level consulting projects.
* Surveying and statistical analysis skills would be helpful.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Graduate level degree, preferably MPA, MBA, MS in information systems.
* Track record in project managing large strategy level consulting engagements.
* Strong project oversight/IV&V experience for large system implementation projects.
* Technical and business process/functional skills in ERP or other enterprise solutions in the government, education (K-12 and higher education), and/or utilities space.
